Premier League Standings 1 Feb 2021
EPL Match Result - The result of the 2020/2021 Premier League match between West Ham vs Liverpool which ended 1-3 on Sunday (1/31/2021) brought the Reds to Manchester United in the EPL standings. Mohamed Salah, who has scored twice for the Hammers, is firmly at the top of the Premier League scoring table with a total of 15 goals.
After the momentum of the revival when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 on Friday (1/29/2021), Liverpool continued their positive trend. Visiting the London Stadium, the Reds were frozen out in the first 45 minutes. However, Jurgen Klopp's men were much sharper in the next half.
Klopp included youngster Curtis Jones. As a result, the 2001-born midfielder gave a pass to Mohamed Salah (57'). The Egyptian international striker fired a deflected shot into Lukasz Fabianski's net.
Within 11 minutes, from a counter-attacking scheme, Trent Alexander-Arnold's diagonal pass was passed by Xherdan Shaqiri. Salah finished it well for his 15th goal of the season.
Georgino Wijnaldum scored Liverpool's third goal six minutes into the second half thanks to Roberto Firmino's sent-off as a substitute. Despite the Reds' net being ripped apart by Craig Dawson, victory remained in the Anfield side's hands.
Liverpool now has a total of 40 points from 21 games. This number is only 1 point behind Manchester United who is second in the EPL standings who have also played 21 times. Meanwhile, the top flight still belongs to Manchester City with 44 points from 20 games or 1 fewer than Liverpool and United.
Chelsea, meanwhile, claimed their first win with new coach Thomas Tuchel. Against Burnley, the Blues excelled thanks to their two defenders, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.
Under Tuchel, in two games, Chelsea has not conceded. Earlier, the Blues played a goalless draw against Wolverhampton. In the match against Burnley, Chelsea did not let their opponents fire a single shot on target.
Chelsea has now moved up to seventh in the Premier League table with 33 points from 21 games. Their points total is the same as Tottenham who on Monday (1/2/2021) was knocked out by Brighton with a score of 1-0.
