Premier League standings 3 Feb 2021

The Premier League result on Wednesday (3/2/2021) between Manchester United vs Southampton ended in a 9–0 win. The Red Devils now sit second in the EPL standings, only to lose to Manchester City who both have 44 points.

After losing to Sheffield United (2-1) and a draw against Arsenal (0-0), Manchester United are back on track for victory against Southampton at Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men had the advantage in the 2nd minute when Alexandre Jankewitz received a red card.

With a 10-man opponent, United managed to score four goals throughout the first half. Aaron Wan Bissaka (18') and Marcus Rashford (25') took turns beating goalkeeper Arthur McCarthy. Punctuated by Jan Bednarek's own goal (34'), United stretched deep through veteran striker Edinson Cavani (39').

Soton, who last season had a bad experience beating Leicester City 0-9 (at home), could not avoid the bigger score. Anthony Martial (69') and Scott McTominay (71') added United's goals to six.

Things got worse for Southampton when Bednarek dropped Martial in the box in the 86th minute. The defender not only received a red card, but his team was penalized. Specialist Bruno Fernandes extended the gap to 7-0.

With Soton playing nine, Man United are increasingly damaging their defense. Martial scored his second goal of the night, and the Red Devils shut down Daniel James (90+3).

This victory makes Manchester United equal manchester city's points that just competed on Thursday (4/2/2021). In addition, the Red Devils' goal difference increased dramatically to +19, although still below The Citizens who are at the top of the EPL standings with +24.

Arsenal, meanwhile, failed to maintain their unbeaten record against Wolverhampton at the Molineux Stadium. The Gunners lost 2-1 despite winning first, even having to play with nine men.

Wolverhampton looked set to continue their record of not winning in the EPL until nine games when Nicolas Pepe broke their goal (32'). However, momentum found the hosts at the end of the first half.

David Luiz drops Willian Jose in the box. The Brazilian defender received a red card, while the Wolves received a penalty. Ruben Neves who served as executor did his job well.

Four minutes after half-time, playmaker Joao Moutinho fired in from 30 yards past goalkeeper Bernd Leno. Leno's bleak period continued when he touched the ball with his hands outside the box as he attempted to block Adama Traore.

Arsenal, who suffered two red cards, could not retaliate until the long whistle sounded. The Gunners remain in the top 10 of the EPL standings, eight points clear of fourth-placed Leicester City, the champions' champions.

Sheffield United earned their third win of the season by beating West Bromwich Albion 2-1. Trailing by Matt Phillips (41'), the hosts reversed the score thanks to Jayden Bogie (56') and Billy Sharp (73').

This victory makes the competition in the relegation zone even fiercer. Sheffield United are still the gatekeeper people with 11 points. However, they are only one point clear of the WBA (12 points) and three points behind Fulham (14 points).
